Clinical Pastoral Education with Michigan Medicine, Locally
Applications are considered on an ongoing basis for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with Michigan Medicine, including clinical placement at UM Health–Sparrow Lansing. For bi-annual application guidelines see below. CPE with Michigan Medicine is an interfaith professional education for ministry. From theological reflection on clinical situations, students gain a new understanding of ministry. Educators and adjunct faculty employ the clinical method of learning ministry guided by nationally accredited standards developed by ACPE, the Standard for Spiritual Care & Education and endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education. Students will participate in CPE with the ACPE Certified Educator at Michigan Medicine while being supported in a clinical placement at UM Health–Sparrow Lansing by an ACPE Board Certified Chaplain.
Internship Level I / II
- 25-week programs, based upon unit level, featuring training beginning in the
Fall or Winter seasons. - Fall Session (Sept.-Feb.; approx. 25 hours/week) – Applications preferred by 5/1.
- Spring Session (March-Aug.; approx. 25 hours/week) - Applications preferred by 11/30.
