Sparrow’s Women Working Wonders (W3) has purchased and donated spa-quality mammography gowns to all of Sparrow’s mammography areas to help make the sometimes uncomfortable procedures more pleasant.
“The gowns are softer and have become an important part of the Patient experience at Sparrow,” said Sandra Pappas O’Connor, Mammography Team Advisor. “They really do make a difference. Sparrow Caregivers are proud to be able to offer these gowns to Patients.”
The new mammography gowns are softer to the touch compared to traditional hospital gowns. They are offered to women undergoing procedures like a mammogram or breast biopsy.
October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, no matter race or ethnicity.
W3 is group of business women and civic leaders striving to be the Lansing area's premier advocate for women's health and wellness issues.
“It is our mission to offer funding to health care programs that will support the women of our community,” said Lisa Hildorf, W3 chairwoman. "W3 is proud to have been able to fund the purchase. It was met with unanimous acceptance, which speaks to the exceptional collaborative attitude of our members."
