The Sparrow Women’s Board of Managers and the Sparrow Volunteer Services Department have named Madison Mohr of East Lansing the February Volunteer of the Month. Mohr has been volunteering in many capacities at Sparrow for over 5 years. She started as a Lansing Catholic Central High School student serving in the Summer teen program as a service project. She continued serving when she started her studies at M.S.U., serving in Mother/Baby, Inpatient Oncology and Orthopedics and currently volunteers in Helping Hands. In May 2015, Mohr took on leadership duties as a Student Coordinator where she now interviews, trains and mentors new college volunteers to the Mother/Baby unit. She says she loves to work with patients and staff and she has a love for medicine. She will be pursuing a M.D. degree at M.S.U. next year.
In Ann Arbor, Mohr is working as a scribe electronically recording patients’ status by following physicians as they check in on patients from room to room.
She also is part of a student organization at St/ Thomas Aquinas/St. Johns Parish helping in the church nursery and currently at M.S.U. she is helping with Child Development Research and has helped in the Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostic Program.
Mohr lives in East Lansing wither Mom, Marla, who is a Sparrow pharmacist and her Dad, Greg, who retired from Xerox Corporation and she has two sisters, Mackenzie and Grace.
Mohr enjoys playing with children and I.M. sports, currently, soccer.
She is said to be an engaged, energetic, caring and responsible volunteer, willing to take on something new and truly committed to the field of medicine.
