UM Health-Sparrow welcomes new radiation oncology physicians

LANSING, MI – University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center is pleased to announce the addition of two distinguished physicians to its radiation oncology team, James Fugazzi, M.D., M.P.H., M.H.A., and Daniel J. Chapman, M.D., M.P.H. 

Fugazzi, a Lansing-area native who lives in Okemos, brings 19 years of experience to UM Health-Sparrow and has been named medical director of radiation oncology. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his residency at Detroit Medical Center and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. 

Chapman earned his medical degree from Central Michigan University College of Medicine and completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he served as chief resident. Chapman has strong ties to the Lansing community and is dedicated to enhancing the patient experience during cancer treatment.

These appointments mark the transition of the radiation oncology program at UM Health-Sparrow to the UM Health Radiation Oncology Network, strengthening access to quality, compassionate cancer care for the region. Both physicians will work under the leadership of Gordan Srkalovic, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, while benefiting from the expertise and resources of Michigan Medicine.
