LANSING, Mich. – University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Forensic Pathology Services has released its Q2 report on drug-related deaths in the seven counties, (Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Livingston, and Shiawassee) in which UM Health-Sparrow serves as medical examiner.
The report found that the overall number of drug-related deaths from April 1 to June 30, 2024, was the lowest for the same period over the past 6 years. While not all counties saw a decrease, overall drug-related deaths were also slightly lower during Q2 than in the last quarter of this year.
The Office of the Medical Examiner provides detail on each drug death and the type of drug involved. The report and other Forensic Pathology findings can be found at UofMHealthSparrow.org/OMEReports. When you get to the page, click on “2024 Q2 Drug Report.”
UM Health-Sparrow is nationally accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners to perform autopsies, postmortem examinations and on-scene forensic death investigations as an important part of the investigation process.
