A Patient room in Sparrow's Mother Baby Center has been dedicated to Tri-Star Trust Bank in recognition of their support for Sparrow's mission to improve the health of the people in mid-Michigan.
Tri-Star's generous donation was made to the Joseph L. Sheets Endowment which supports OB-GYN medical resident education.
"This support will help Sparrow ensure continued resources for future generations of physicians in our Mother Baby Center," said Stella Cash, Sparrow Vice President of Development and Strategic Partnerships. "We thank Tri-Star Trust for this generous donation, especially because of the impact it will have on the care we provide to our Patients."
At the heart of Tri-Star Trust's culture is a commitment to caring for clients, each other and the community, said Tri-Star Trust Bank Vice President & Market Manager Scott W. Wagasky. Tri-Star Trust Board member J. Donald Sheets is the son of the late Joseph L. Sheets, M.D., a pioneer at Sparrow whose distinguished career included more than 5,000 major surgeries and 10,000 deliveries. He established Sparrow's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Women's Pavilion, and created Sparrow's OB/GYN Residency Program.
"We knew that we wanted to do something in the community, and Sparrow made a lot of sense to us," said Wagasky. "Supporting Sparrow's Mother Baby Center is in line with our goal to support the community at all levels and for all generations."
Sparrow is mid-Michigan's most popular birthing center, delivering about 4,000 babies a year. In March 2011, Sparrow celebrated its 250,000th delivery, just one day before the hospital's 115th anniversary. For more information on Sparrow's Birthing Services, visit sparrow.org/birthing.
