Another school year is winding down and with summer just around the corner it must mean it's time to Get Movin' with the Sparrow Michigan Mile, a one-mile run and great day of fun for kids 13 and under.
Festivities kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, at Cooley Law School Stadium, home of the Lansing Lugnuts. Sponsored by Sparrow, the fun and non-competitive event includes a one-mile course for children 13 and younger and a shorter course (the KIDSPRINT) inside the stadium for those 6 and under.
Children run with their own age group and all participants receive a T-shirt and finishers get a shiny gold medal.
Early registration is $7 until May 17 and $12 May 18-29. Save time and money by registering now at sparrow.org/michiganmile. Registration will be available for $18 on race day.
The Sparrow Michigan Mile is the capstone for the Feelin' Good Mileage Club, a free elementary school program that rewards students for walking and running at school. Nearly 18,000 K-6 students from 110 schools in eight counties are participating in this year's program, and are well on their way to a healthy future.
