During this National Volunteer Week, April 6-12, Sparrow recognizes its 1,500 teen and community Volunteers and more than 300 college Volunteers that make a difference in the lives of our Patients and their families every day.
An open house for prospective volunteers will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. on Monday, April 14, near the Information Desk on the first floor of Sparrow Hospital. The open house will feature a tour at 5 p.m. with an overview of Volunteer opportunities and a brief history of Sparrow.
It was a volunteer group known as the Women's Hospital Association, an organization that continues to thrive today, that founded Sparrow in 1896. Much has changed at Sparrow over the last 118 years, but Volunteers continue to be a crucial part of Sparrow's mission to improve the health of our community by providing quality, compassionate care to every Patient, every time.
"Sparrow is extremely proud and honored to have so many talented and dedicated Volunteers willing give their time, talent and gifts to enhance the Patient care experience. Our Volunteers work collaboratively with Sparrow Caregivers to ensure Patient safety is always in the forefront of everything they do," said Tracy Feazel, Sparrow Hospital Volunteer Coordinator.
