Sparrow Health System was a proud sponsor of Lansing’s 22nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration which ran from June 18-20, 2015. The celebration commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is the oldest African American Holiday, having started in 1865.
The 2015 celebration kicked off at the Capital on Thursday offering an outdoor celebration including family fun, stage shows, live musical entertainment, a wide variety of information, vendors from across the state and a health fair. Caregivers from Diversity and Inclusion, Nursing, and Physicians Health Plan participated in the health fair. The event culminated in a parade on Saturday dedicated in memory of its founder, the late Rev. Dr. Michael C. Murphy, who was a former Lansing legislator, City Council member and community advocate.
