Sparrow Hospital was recognized at the 2015 MotherBaby Summit in Detroit for achieving Baby-Friendly® designation. Sparrow is the only Baby-Friendly Hospital in the mid-Michigan region and one of only 10 in the entire state. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global program of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
BFHI certification demonstrates excellence in providing evidence-based, Patient-centered maternity care that promotes best practices in infant feeding and mother/baby bonding. The goal is improved health outcomes for mothers and babies.
