LANSING, MI – Sparrow Hospital has earned an “A” for Patient safety in a Spring 2019 scorecard of 2,600 hospitals nationwide, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to quality and safety, and meeting the needs of every Patient, every time.
Prepared by the Leapfrog Group, the Hospital Safety Score grades a hospital’s overall performance in keeping Patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
The Hospital Safety Score is determined by analyzing national performance measures from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey; the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ); the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); and the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey and Health Information Technology Supplement.
A, B, C, D and F grades are assigned based on 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. The Hospital Safety Score includes five measures of Patient-reported experience with the hospital, as well as two of the most common infections, C.diff and MRSA.
