Cathy Dunn, R.N., a nurse in Sparrow's IV Specialty Department, was presented with the DAISY Award for outstanding Patient care by her peers recently.
Fellow nurse Jennifer Little, R.N., from the Medical Oncology Unit, nominated Dunn for her impressive ability to calm a difficult Patient and insert an IV all while teaching a new IV nurse. She also wanted to acknowledge Dunn for the compassionate follow-up care she provides to all of her Patients.
"Cathy is a shining example of commitment to our Patients and excellence in IV access," said Jeanne Bishop, a Manager in the IV Specialty Department.

Dunn was honored to receive the DAISY Award, "In life, when it feels like you've hit a lump, something always comes up that lifts your spirits," said Dunn. "It's God's way of saying this is where you need to be."
The DAISY Award is given each month to recognize nurses, nominated by their peers, who demonstrate Nursing excellence.
