Sparrow named among Most Wired Hospitals in nation

Published: Aug. 14, 2014

Sparrow has been named one of the nation’s Top Most Wired Hospitals, following the success of its electronic medical record system and other huge technological gains.

Sparrow was recognized in the 16th annual Health Care’s Most Wired Survey, conducted by Hospitals & Health Networks and sponsored by the American Hospital Association. The survey explored IT initiatives conducted at nearly 2,000 hospitals nationwide.

Sparrow implemented an EMR system in December 2012. This EMR enables patient-centered care by providing improved Patient documentation, a secure, confidential Patient medical record, and reduced medication errors. Patients have access to portions of their medical record – through MySparrow – allowing more collaboration with their medical care team. Patients can ask their Sparrow doctor for log-in information to start using MySparrow, or visit Sparrow.org/MySparrow to learn more.

“Sparrow is very proud to be part of the elite group named the ‘Most Wired’ by Hospitals & Health Networks,” said Thomas A. Bres, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. “Our IT team works collaboratively with operational Caregivers and leaders to implement comprehensive and complex technology systems to enhance quality and safe Patient Care. We are proud of this designation and continually look for ways to improve information technology to serve our Patients, Providers and Caregivers.“
