LANSING, MI – In one of the first steps toward fruition of Sparrow’s largest-ever investment in the region, Sparrow Medical Supply is improving access to patients by moving to the Frandor Shopping Center.
The retail portion of the store begins business today, Monday, Feb. 21, at 326 E. Morgan Lane, near Liberty Coin and Ulta Beauty. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be more centrally located to many area residents.
“We’ll have the same quality service we’ve always provided, just in a fresh location with easy access off the highway,” said Tanya Belbeck, Sparrow Medical Supply director.
Sparrow Medical Supply serviced 33,075 customers last year at its longtime location at the corner of E. Michigan Avenue and Pennsylvania in Lansing, next door to Sparrow Hospital. All 55 Sparrow Medical Supply caregivers, including billing and warehouse, will move to the new site or nearby locations.
The move will help pave the way for Sparrow’s new Surgery Center, which will be located near the old site. Two nearby Sparrow buildings have already been demolished for the project. The three-story, 100,000-square-foot Sparrow Surgery Center and medical office facility will support the growth of same-day surgeries and will occupy several lots near the northwest corner of Michigan and Pennsylvania. It is in response to a rise in outpatient surgeries and will help free up capacity for inpatient procedures at Sparrow Hospital.
The Sparrow Surgery Center is part of an $800-million capital improvement plan that also includes construction of a five-story patient tower at Sparrow Hospital, an expansion of the Sparrow Hospital Emergency Department, and a new medical office building in Meridian Township that will encompass a Freestanding Emergency Department.
As the region’s only community-based and community-governed health system, Sparrow is committed to improving access and quality of care for Lansing and surrounding communities.
