IONIA, MI – Tim Barnes, BSN, RN, has been selected as Sparrow Ionia Hospital’s 2018 Nurse of the Year.
Barnes – a Caregiver at Sparrow Ionia since 2016 in the Emergency Department and most recently the Surgery Department – was nominated by his peers for being a great asset to his team and going above and beyond to provide excellent Patient care.
“Tim is a great asset to the team and community,” said Tara Lanz, BSN, RN, Emergency Department Manager. “He is a great team player and is always willing to help when needed.”
Barnes treats each of his Patients with respect and compassion and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both rural emergency medicine and Level 1 Trauma care.
As a sign of his dedication, he recently took the time to become a licensed Medical First Responder so that he can respond to emergencies in the Mulliken area, where he lives.
Barnes is often recognized by Patients in comments and surveys and is lauded by his colleagues as smart, competent, respectful, caring, kind and compassionate.
He has experience as a flight nurse in Pennsylvania and was president of his Nursing class at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Sparrow Ionia Hospital congratulates Barnes, and all of our Nurses, for their dedication and commitment to extraordinary Patient care.
