A hospital administrator from Ghana recently visited Sparrow Hospital to learn more about nursing and hospital management in an urban area.
On Friday, Nov. 13, Vice President of Nursing Christine Jodoin met with Josseph Atta Amankwa, CEO of Ghana Methodist Hospitals in Kumasi, Ghana. He is responsible for five hospitals and has a workforce of about 1,300 people.
Amankwa was accompanied by Dr. Isaac Addai, a Lansing Community College professor who is originally from Kumasi.
Sparrow Health System has been a proud supporter of the Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission for more than a decade, providing world medical relief such as hospital equipment to furnish a clinic in Ghana.
Lansing Community College previously sponsored a service learning program headed by Addai, which sent delegations of students to Kumasi to perform various volunteer services under Amankwa’s direction, such as hypertension checks and diabetes testing.
