LANSING, MI – Voting ends soon for the 2017 Dapper Dads Challenge, a popular Sparrow Foundation Women Working Wonders fundraising event, now in its eighth year.
This year’s challenge features 33 of mid-Michigan’s most prominent professional leaders who’s been campaigning over the past 12 weeks to gather the most votes and earn the title of “Top Dapper Dad.” The event raises money to support women’s health in the mid-Michigan region.
It culminates with a fashion show on Thursday, June 8, held in a big tent in front of Kositchek’s in downtown Lansing. Tickets are $60 (and include a VIP reception and reserved seating), starting at 5:30 p.m., and $30 for the fashion show only, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Both include wine and appetizers.
Online voting closes at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. Cast a ballot for your favorite Dapper Dad by donating $5 a vote at SparrowFoundation.org/DapperDads. Votes can also be cast in person at the fashion show.
“This event is one of the most entertaining annual fundraisers we have in our region – a truly fun way for the Greater Lansing community to support the work of the Sparrow Foundation,” said Stella Cash, Sparrow Vice President of Development and Strategic Partnerships. “We so appreciate the many outstanding professionals who participate each year.”
Returning this year are: Kris Burak, Patrick Dean, Glenn Granger, Adam Goss, Alex Hernandez, Goran Jurkovic, Nikali Luke, Rick Preuss, Rocco Rucinski, Jim Schmelter, and Gordan Srkalovic, M.D.
New to the Challenge are Drew Bowden, David Ferguson, Scott Gillespie, Andy Hedberg, Grant Hendrickson, James Herman, Deyeya Jones, Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, Andy Kotarba, Anthony Lupo, Russ Marian, Harman J. Nagler, M.D., Jon Nobis, Ryan Opel, Scott Reschke, Tom Ruis, Jeremy Sampson, Jeffrey Shapiro, Eric Weber, Vic Verchereau, Craig Wieland, and Kevin Zielke.
Dapper Dads is organized by W3 (Women Working Wonders), a committee of the Sparrow Foundation made up of more than 35 women volunteers from diverse backgrounds and professions who are committed to supporting women’s health.
The top 12 finishers in the Challenge will be featured on the 2018 Dapper Dads Calendar, available for purchase this fall through the Sparrow Foundation. A 13th Dapper Dad will be chosen by a drawing of the remaining participants who’ve raised at least $1,000 in votes. He will also appear on the 2018 calendar.
The Dapper Dads Challenge has been sponsored by both Kositchek’s and the University Club of MSU since its inception. This year’s runway sponsor is Feldman’s Chevrolet of Lansing. Over the years, the participating models have collectively raised close to $1.4 million.
Proceeds this year will help fund a new “cold cap” therapy program at Sparrow – a treatment that offers women who are undergoing chemotherapy a chance to preserve their hair.
The Sparrow Foundation supports Sparrow’s mission to provide Patients with quality, compassionate healthcare through funding for equipment, educational programs, services, and research.
