LANSING, MI – Sparrow has completed major renovations to its main lobby at Sparrow Hospital with the addition of a Starbucks, which opens Monday, June 26 at 5:30 a.m.
The world-famous coffee company will be located at the east end of the hospital lobby, replacing the Lobby Café. It will offer the hot and cold brews that have earned Starbucks millions of fans around the world. Besides beverages, it will have a full food menu, including hot food and pastries, and merchandise.
The Starbucks will be open seven days a week and will be managed and operated by Sparrow, with complete staffing by Sparrow Caregivers.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Sparrow Caregivers to engage in a training program with a company that is globally recognized for setting the standard for excellent coffee and stellar service,” said Laura Fellows, Sparrow’s Executive Chef and Director of Food and Nutrition. “I am incredibly proud of the enthusiasm our team is pouring into this endeavor and am excited to watch them shine in their new roles.”
Said Sparrow Retail Manager Nate Keusch: “Starbucks and Sparrow share the same core values of compassion, humanity, and quality that make this a great fit.”
The Starbucks is located just outside the Gathering Place at Sparrow, the modern and upscale dining area that was unveiled nearly a year ago. The Gathering Place at Sparrow features bright open spaces and a wall of glass with a view along Michigan Avenue. It showcases our effort to transform facilities to meet the expectations of our Patients, Visitors, Physicians, and other Caregivers for quality care in a healing environment.
Sparrow has undertaken a significant investment in the region, with more than $285 million in construction and information technology projects over a five-year period as we continue to transform care, implement best practices, and deliver nationally recognized care.
