Sparrow Health System (SHS) and Carson Health, an affiliate of SHS since 1997, are taking steps to achieve full integration to leverage the strengths of each organization to meet the growing needs of Patients.
A letter of intent has been signed by representatives of both organizations and a formal integration agreement is likely to be finalized by the end of 2014.
“Sparrow has long recognized the essential role of Carson Health in improving the health of the many communities it serves,” said Dennis Swan, President and CEO, Sparrow Health System. “Working more closely will afford greater opportunities to enhance our care for Patients throughout the area.”
Carson Health, based in Carson City, includes a 61-bed acute care hospital with 16 physician practices and an impressive list of in-patient and out-patient programs.
“We are very pleased to take this step toward full integration with Sparrow,” said Matt Thompson, Carson Health President and Chief Executive Officer. “We value the relationship between our two organizations and together, we’re committed to ensuring continued access to quality care as close to home as possible.”
With the uncertainty of health care reform and the demands of ongoing economic challenges, Carson Health’s integration with Sparrow would improve quality of care by fostering closer cooperation and forging greater clinical integration.
Key benefits of Carson Health’s integration with the Sparrow Health System include improved local access to health care services, improved affordability of health care services through a reduction of duplicative services, and a joint vision to improve the quality of care and the Patient experience.
