LANSING, Mich. - Physicians Health Plan of Mid-Michigan (PHP), an award-winning Lansing-based plan that provides high-quality health care coverage to more than 400 employers and 70,000 members, announced today it has been named the state's best health plan for customer service in the 2010 Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey.
"Receiving Michigan's No. 1 ranking for customer service reflects our staff's dedication to providing quality care and service," said PHP President and CEO Scott Wilkerson. "I'm exceptionally proud of our team's hard work and commitment to each and every one of our members."
The CAHPS program is a public-private initiative to develop and support the use of a comprehensive and evolving family of standardized surveys that ask consumers and patients to report on and evaluate their experiences with health care. These 2010 results for PHP were based on surveys with 1,245 commercial members. The surveys cover topics important to consumers, such as the communication skills of providers, courteous and helpful staff, customer service and the accessibility of services.
"PHP is mid-Michigan's health plan - a not-for-profit health plan with a track record of national recognition," Wilkerson said. "Looking forward, we will continue to focus our energy on delivering the award-winning, patient-centered care that members, employers, physicians and area hospitals have come to depend on."
