Sparrow Caregivers showed the true depth of their compassion and generosity through this year's Operation Santa program.
Parents and administrators at Lansing's Bingham Elementary School were overwhelmed by the hundreds of holiday gifts provided by Sparrow Caregivers to the school's 218 students. Many of the students' families are economically deprived and would have otherwise struggled to provide presents.
"We owe a big thanks to Sparrow from our families," said Principal Laura Abbott-Smith. "I wish I could be at every house to see smile on the kids' faces."
Rows of new bikes and bags and bags of gifts filled the school's gym waiting for distribution after two trucks dropped off the Sparrow gifts. One huge bag contained multiple gifts for a family of seven children.
"I can't say enough about our Caregivers," said Cathy Potter, who coordinates the program for the Sparrow Marketing Department. "This is about the kids and the Caregivers. I've never seen this many gifts."
