LANSING, MI – Michigan State University students will dance their hearts out during a day-long dance marathon on Saturday aimed at symbolizing the struggles children and young adults have fighting cancer and other medical conditions on a daily basis.
The annual MSU Dance Marathon raises money and awareness for the Sparrow Children’s Center, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, as well as the Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation. It’s a great way to changes lives and be part of something life-changing as participants stay on their feet for up to 10 hours.
The marathon is held at colleges nationwide and is the largest fundraiser in the Big Ten. The Dance Marathon movement has raised more than $100 million for CMN Hospitals since 1991.
The MSU Dance Marathon will feature free food for participants, prizes, entertainment, photo booths, and more. Participants raise money by setting a fundraising goal and collecting donations. Many work in teams from sororities, fraternities, and student organizations.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on campus at the IM Circle and participants can register until the day of the marathon. Visitors are welcome and can even donate by hitting a participant in the face with a pie for $5 or buying a T-shirt.
