Hannah Selby, PCT, a Patient Care Technician at Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, goes above and beyond to lift the spirits of patients and make sure they are happy with the care they receive.
“To do the little things for patients helps improve their mood throughout the day or week because they can get in a rut of just the same routine every single day,” says Hannah. “When you take time to do the little things, it makes them feel like they are getting more home-type care, which is what I would want my family members and me to feel if I were in Hospice.”
Hannah enjoys spending time with patients when her schedule allows, whether it's watching a movie or just talking.
“What I really love about patient care is getting to know each patient individually and getting to know their story and create a bond as the days go by,” says Hannah.
Hannah wants every patient at Sparrow Hospice House to feel cared for and loved. That’s one reason Hannah is this month’s Caregiver Spotlight.
