Local fire chief with breast cancer finds hope at U-M Health

In Spring 2021, Lisa Koenigsknecht, a Clinton County mother of 3 and a battalion chief for the Lansing Fire Department, discovered a lump in one of her breasts. Six months later, she was diagnosed with cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes.
Determined to fight for her life, she turned to the highly skilled cancer and surgical teams at University of Michigan Health in Lansing and Ann Arbor for hope and healing.

University of Michigan Health-Sparrow’s highly skilled team of breast cancer experts is dedicated to providing leading-edge screenings and precision medicine close to home.

That is why we’re looking forward to a multi-million-dollar expansion of our comprehensive Breast Center at UM Health-Sparrow. The new space will offer mammograms and other screenings, diagnostic evaluations, ultrasound and biopsy services, all in one space.
