The Sparrow Women’s Board of Managers and the Sparrow Volunteer Services Department have named Mark Beagle of Delta Township the January Volunteer of the Month. Beagle has volunteered for the Sparrow Service Auxiliary (Main campus Gift Shop) for over 5 years. He was invited to volunteer in the shop on the early morning shift by his wife, Christine, who is the current president of the group. He enjoys meeting the customers in the shop and especially enjoys taking the cart out to patients who cannot get down to shop themselves. He says it brightens up their day to see him.
Beagle also volunteers for “Meals on Wheels”, drives for the Red Cross and assists at his church, St. Michael’s, Grand Ledge, with “Blessings in a Backpack”, a program which provides food for the weekends for children from financially challenged families. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus and he also drives cancer patients to their appointments.
Mark and Christine have 4 children and 1 granddaughter, most of whom live in the East. They have traveled to Hawaii and to The Dominican Republic, but now, mostly travel to see their children and grandchild.
Beagle grew up in Delta Twp. and graduated from Grand Ledge High School. He retired in 2007 after working 37 years at the Board of Water and Light.
He is known to be punctual, reliable, courteous and friendly-exceptional in every way.
The Sparrow Women’s Board takes great pride in honoring volunteers like Mark Beagle who share their time and talent for the benefit of Sparrow’s patients and families. To learn more about volunteering at Sparrow, please visit Sparrow.org or call our office at 517.364.3606.
