Hundreds of Caregivers took a 30-minute stroll down Michigan Avenue today, joining Dennis Swan, Sparrow President and CEO, and other members of Sparrow leadership during the first Walk with the CEO.
The event aimed to encourage an active lifestyle among Sparrow Caregivers, and coincided with National Employee Health and Fitness Month.
"At Sparrow, we put people first, and this event is an excellent opportunity to remind our Caregivers of the importance of a healthy lifestyle," said Swan. "If we take good care of ourselves, we're going to be able to do a much better job of taking care of our Patients."
Caregivers walked 1.5 miles along Michigan Avenue, starting and ending at the former Bingham Elementary School, with Swan after a warm-up with a Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club Instructor. Caregivers who logged more than 100,000 steps from May 1-14 were also entered into drawings for prizes.
This event is one of many efforts Sparrow has undertaken to encourage health and wellness among its Caregivers in order to support our mission of providing quality care to every Patient, every time. Sparrow plays a leadership role in health and wellness issues in the community, and aims to be a model for health improvement in Michigan.
