Sixteen students in the inaugural class of the Future DOcs program in Lansing graduated from the program in a ceremony on Saturday, July 26.
Mr. Omar Osman, Eastern High School, opened up the ceremony with a welcome message and reflection on the last six weeks.
During the course of the program students visited the morgue, participated in emergency and first responder training, watched medical procedures and studied classroom and learning skills to help them achieve their goal of a career in medicine. Check out some more photos from the commencement ceremony.
After this summer’s experience the Lansing Future DOcs program will be expanded to include 15 students from each of the three high schools. Ruger and her team are incorporating Future DOcs into a broader plan to develop a graduated set of activities to introduce high schoolers to the osteopathic profession.
