LANSING, Mich. — Sparrow Health System and UnitedHealthcare have expanded their network relationship, giving people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored and individual health plans access to Sparrow Hospital and Sparrow Specialty Hospital in Lansing as well as Sparrow Clinton Hospital in St. Johns.
UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in employer-sponsored and individual plans continue to have in-network access to Sparrow Carson, Eaton and Ionia hospitals.
The expanded relationship reflects Sparrow and UnitedHealthcare’s shared commitment to improving access to quality care, enhancing clinical outcomes, lowering the cost of care and creating an exceptional patient experience.
“We are excited about our collaboration with UnitedHealthcare, which will offer more Mid-Michigan residents access to care at the region’s only community-owned, community-based health system,” said James F. Dover, FACHE, president and CEO of Sparrow Health System.
“We are always looking for ways to enhance the quality and value of our health plans, which is why we are so pleased that our members now have access to care at additional Sparrow hospitals,” said Dustin Hinton, CEO, UnitedHealthcare in Michigan. “Sparrow is an important care provider, and our expanded relationship offers the people we serve in the Lansing area greater choice and access to quality, cost-effective care.”
UnitedHealthcare serves more than 800,000 people in Michigan enrolled in Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, employer-sponsored and individual health plans with a network of nearly 150 hospitals and 48,000 physicians and other care providers statewide.
