Following treatment for colon cancer, Cindy Homant is so much a part of the Sparrow Family that she volunteers at the Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center in order to assist Caregivers and help Patients going through what she did.
It’s a far cry from the dark days of late 2017 when she was discovered to have Stage 3 colon cancer following a colonoscopy. Many people advised her on where to get treatment. She ultimately chose Sparrow and its team approach to cancer care.
Sparrow provided expert advice and care about her chemotherapy treatment, and Homant calls her oncologist, Muhammad Hamden, M.D., “amazing. He really put my mind at ease.” Now, she said, she loves the Cancer Center because everyone makes her feel like family.
