Nurse Charlie Barrett, in ICU, cared for Victoria Devereaux, and her family, during the difficult transition of Victoria’s passing.
He showed great compassion in working around family members even when it became difficult, and helped them understand and accept what was happening throughout the process.
He shared coffee and doughnuts and emotional support when needed. He listened and laughed at the joyful stories the family told about Victoria, and he knew when it was time to let them grieve in peace.
Charlie is no ordinary nurse. He goes beyond his duties to take care of everyone involved in the grieving process, and this award is a testament of his great caring and competence.
