Three community leaders have been elected as officers of the board overseeing Sparrow Specialty Hospital, the pre-eminent facility in mid-Michigan for long-term acute care services.
The new board chairperson is Dorothy E. Maxwell of Delta Township, president/CEO of the Max Weingar Group, a Lansing-based organizational performance consulting firm. Maxwell serves on numerous community boards, including as a director of the Capital Area United Way, Metropolitan YMCA of Lansing, and the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau.
She has served on the SSH board since 2004.
Jeanne Rutledge of Grand Ledge has been elected as board vice chairperson. Rutledge is president/CEO of Medical Management Systems of Michigan Inc., which she co-founded. She has served on the SSH board since 2011 and is involved with numerous health care-related organizations.
The new board secretary is Carol Conn of East Lansing. Conn, completing her first year on the SSH board, operates Capitol Fundraising Associates, a multi-client lobbying firm. Besides SSH, she currently serves on the board of the Refugee Development Center and has participated in numerous community service activities over the years.

Sparrow Specialty Hospital, located on the campus of the Sparrow St. Lawrence Campus in Lansing, is designed for medically complex and critically ill patients who require a longer hospitalization. The 36-bed acute care hospital specializes in patients who require a 25-day or longer length of stay in a hospital setting.
