Office of the Medical Examiner

UM Health-Sparrow Forensic Pathology serves as Office of the Medical Examiner (OME) for the Michigan counties of Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Livingston, and Shiawassee. The Office of the Medical Examiner provides complete death investigation and forensic pathology services to our region. 

We independently investigate to determine the cause and manner of death, which may contribute to legal proceedings, influence public health policy, and assist families with end-of-life tasks. Our goal is to accurately determine the cause(s) of death and serve as a resource to Physicians and institutions.

UM Health-Sparrow Forensic Pathology is accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners, and our physicians are board-certified in anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
