Hospitalist physicians are always here
A hospitalist is an Internal Medicine physician who directs and coordinates comprehensive medical care for hospitalized patients. We work closely with your family physician for your health needs and our Hospitalist physicians are available at UM Health-Sparrow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide careful medical oversight to patients ages 18 and up. Hospitalists typically work in shifts, which means you might see more than one during your course of stay. The members of the UM Health-Sparrow Hospitalist Team are dedicated to providing the very best medical care during your hospital stay and collaborating closely with you and your family for a safe transition between hospital and family physicians.
Pediatric Hospitalists for the youngest patients
Some hospitalists specialize in pediatric patients. UM Health-Sparrow's pediatric hospitalists provide and coordinate the comprehensive care of pediatric patients during their stay on UM Health-Sparrow's acute care pediatrics floor. The UM Health-Sparrow Hospital Inpatient Pediatric Service (SHIPS) is staffed by full-time board certified/board eligible pediatricians. UM Health-Sparrow's pediatric hospitalists also supervise the pediatric and family practice residents during their inpatient pediatric rotations.
